April is a leader. She has been a mayor, she knows how to lead a council and a budget. She has been a small business owner, and a single mom of two boys, she knows how to squeeze as much value as she can out of a limited budget.
She is a lifelong resident of the Niagara Region with a long history in Welland. She is a graduate of Niagara College’s tourism program. She is a successful business owner and entrepreneur, creating and owning her own photography business for over 20 years. She served two consecutive terms as Mayor of Wainfleet from 2010 to 2018. She was then appointed Chair of the Niagara Parks Commission in 2022 by Premier Doug Ford. She put her political knowledge and experience to use for the community, working in government relations at Brock University. She fought actively to keep the Welland Hospital open.
In addition to her professional roles, April is heavily involved in her community and feels a sense of duty to give back. She has volunteered with multiple charities and organizations around Niagara. Currently, she serves as a member of the Welland Hospital Task Force Committee, Events Chair of the Royal Canadian Naval Association Niagara, and Chair of the Niagara Source Water Protection Committee. She is a mother to two adult sons, Thomas and Gordon, and attends First Baptist Church.
